What this site collects, what it does not, and how to turn analytics off. Short, because there is not much to say.

What this site is

Jared Randall is a static site. Every page is a file, served as-is. There are no accounts, no logins, no comments, no forms, and no newsletter — so there is nothing here that asks you for personal information, and nothing that could store it if you offered.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which essays people actually read. It is configured with Google Consent Mode, set to denied by default: until you accept, nothing is stored on your device, and Google receives only cookieless pings with no identifier attached to them.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*) that let it recognize a returning browser. IP anonymization is on. The data goes to Google, who process it under their own terms; nothing collected here is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone else.

What is measured is aggregate: pages viewed, rough geography, referrer, device type. None of it identifies you to me, and I have no way to connect a visit to a person.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, this site treats that as a standing refusal. You will not see a consent prompt and analytics storage stays off.

Your choice

Your choice is stored in this browser's local storage under consent:analytics. Clearing site data resets it.

What is not here

  • No advertising, and no advertising or remarketing identifiers.
  • No third-party trackers, embeds, pixels, or social widgets.
  • No web fonts loaded from anyone else's server.
  • No email collection.
  • No fingerprinting, session recording, or heatmaps.

Aside from the analytics described above, the pages here load nothing from any domain other than this one. A Content-Security-Policy is served on every response that blocks anything else from trying.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes request logs as part of serving and protecting the site, under their own privacy terms. I do not receive raw server logs.
